Richard Hiltner did his first roof when he was eleven years old. By the time he was in his mid-thirties, he had spent more than two decades learning this trade from the ground up — standing on roofs, handling materials, managing crews, and understanding how a house is put together from the ridge cap down to the foundation.

For over six of those years, he managed roofing projects at one of the largest and most established contractors in Southeastern Pennsylvania, overseeing hundreds of jobs across Berks, Chester, and Montgomery Counties. He learned how to run a roofing operation at scale: material sourcing, crew coordination, customer communication, project timelines, and quality control.

Then private equity came in and bought the company. The culture changed. The personal relationships that homeowners valued were replaced with corporate sales processes and volume targets. Richard watched it happen from the inside, and he made a decision: build the company that should exist in this market.
